SLE Country Championships Semi-Final Results

Outstanding performances from the Western Rams U16s & U18s teams in Bathurst over the weekend, saw both sides secure a spot in the  SLE Worldwide Country Championships Grand Finals.

The U16s came out firing in the first half running in four tries to be leading 24-6 against the Newcastle Rebels at the half time break. The Rams started the second half slowly as Newcastle ran in three tries in the opening 15 minutes of the second stanza. Newcastle drawing level shocked the Rams into gear and tries to Dylan Marmion and Raymond Towney saw them extend the lead back to 12 points.

With a Grand final berth on the line, the Rebels produced a final push and crossed twice, only for a sideline conversion to be waved away and the Rams to hold on winners, 36-34. Raymond Towney was the star for the Rams, crossing for two tries and producing a prefect six from six display of goal kicking which ultimately proved the difference between the two sides.

The Rams 16s will take on the East Coast Dolphins in the Grand Final this Saturday, April 1st at Cessnock.
